On May 13th, Working Lands Alliance will be joining our coalition partners for a Community Investment Act Lobby Day….and WE NEED YOU THERE!! Here’s why:
We are working hard to reverse the complete sweep of Community Investment Act funds proposed in the Governor’s budget. These funds help preserve farmland, provide critical support to dairy farmers, and help farmers invest in their farm businesses. They also protect open space, preserve historic properties, and create affordable housing.
Last week, the Finance Committee released their revenue package for FY 16 and 17 and the Committee restored only half of the Community Investment Act funding. This is an improvement over the complete sweep proposed in the Governor’s budget, but still represents an unprecedented diversion of CIA’s dedicated funds.
To fully restore the Community Investment Act funds, we need to redouble our efforts with the legislature and the Governor’s office. The message is simple – the budget should not be balanced by raiding dedicated funds.
Want to know what you can do to help?
